Fit Livin’ is an Indianapolis based wellness company trying to help reduce obesity one person at a time. The tagline “Fitness with a Goal” is present in everything they do. Each Thanksgiving they put on a 4-mile Thanksgiving Day Run in Noblesville, IN. This run is different than other turkey day runs as this one pushes the family aspect the most, not just on seeing who can run the fastest. There are currently 5 other races on Thanksgiving Day within the Indy area, MarcoSolo Design was tasked with creating awareness for the event in the midst of the other events. We took the existing Fit Livin’ logo and changed the color, added a Pilgrim hat to v-guy and added a descriptor tagline. The existing corporate logo is very well known and liked so we did not want to stray far from it, just wanted to make it look more festive for the time of year.
Besides a strong social media campaign we also needed to let the public know about the race via posters, postcards and yard signs. We started off with a postcard, these were to be handed out freely and displayed at local businesses. They are very descriptive with information and how to sign up. Approx 2000 postcards were distributed over the months of October and November. Posters were next on the list, these would be hung up in Fit Livin’ Wellness client offices and around town at local sporting stores. The posters are basically a resized version of the postcard. Next we needed to quickly capture the attention of drivers on the local roads. We only have there attention for 2-3 seconds so these had to be designed differently than the postcard and poster. The main items to display largely were the race date, race distance and how to sign up. Plus we did not want to put the exact date on the signs so they can be reused each year. “Thanksgiving Day” was displayed prominently across the top along with “4 mile” and the URL for signup was along the bottom. Those three main points are easily read by passing traffic and have helped the number of people signup increase significantly over the past few weeks.
The most important piece for the participants is the participant shirt, it is almost like having bragging rights that you did something healthy. We kept the front fairly simple, just the logo. This year we had a great turnout for sponsors so we had to carefully place all the logos on the back of the shirt so they could all be visible. They are ranked on the sponsor ship level from top to bottom and alphabetically. The largest sponsors are at the top then followed by the next tier of sponsors. MarcoSolo worked with the shirt printer to ensure they had the proper file format for quickest turnaround of the shirts.
